Quality
Quality: listed, certified, inspected
Every panel we build leaves the shop the same way: built to a listed standard, under a certified quality system, documented to as-built, and checked before it ships.

UL 508A and cUL listed — UL File E239160
We are a UL and cUL listed industrial control panel shop:
- UL 508A (category NITW) for the United States;
- CSA C22.2 No. 286 (category NITW7) for Canada.
The listing is public and can be verified on UL Product iQ under File E239160.
- Every panel built in our shop goes through our UL 508A program. That covers control, motor-control, drive, power-distribution, power-factor-correction and harmonic-filter panels alike.
- UL inspects our shop every quarter under its Follow-Up Services program. It's an independent check that what we build matches what we're listed for.
- We start from UL-certified components and apply the UL Listing Mark only to panels that meet the standard.
- Short-circuit current rating (SCCR) is determined and marked for each listed panel. We also help customers rate their existing panels and choose the fusing or protection to reach a required rating.
- Qualified people: UL 508A requires a qualified Manufacturer Technical Representative on staff. Our engineering team completed UL's 508A and SCCR training and requalification in 2025.
ISO 9001:2015 certified
Our quality management system is certified to ISO 9001:2015 by SGS North America, continuously since 2019. The current certificate is valid through 2028. Its scope covers all of our operations. The certificate's scope: "The design and manufacture of electrical control panels including engineering services and the distribution of electrical components."
In practice that means:
- Corrective and preventive action. Problems are logged, traced to root cause and closed out through formal corrective-action reports.
- Audited every year, by internal audits plus SGS surveillance and recertification audits.
- Documented processes under a written quality policy and business manual, from quoting through engineering, purchasing, build, test and shipment.
Documentation you can work from
- Electrical drawings: schematics and panel layouts drawn in AutoCAD, revision-controlled, and delivered as as-built packages once the work is complete.
- Lists and maps: bills of materials, I/O lists, terminal-block maps and Modbus address maps where a system needs them.
- Labels: engraved nameplates and device labeling to the customer's tag schedule.
Traceable builds
- Build tag: every assembly carries an "Assembled by Gross Automation" tag with its own serial number.
- Batch tracking: for repeat and OEM production, units are tracked by serial number and order.

Tested before it ships
- Shop testing: panels and systems are tested in the shop before shipment. Programmable systems are loaded, programmed and checked against their I/O before they leave.
- Factory acceptance testing to a customer's procedure is available.
- Commissioning: when the job calls for it, the same engineers who built and programmed the system do start-up and commissioning on site.
